About

My family’s history has always interested me, and I’ve researched it over quite a few years. In the Family Lines Blog, you’ll find the stories, images and documents I’ve collected. I start off by following the lineage of my father, Lucien Aubé, whose parents (my grandparents) were Albert Aubé and Eva Labrecque. We’re able to trace the generations back to the immigrants who left France in the 1600s and came to New France (part of which is now Canada.) Later on, I’ll cover the lineage of my mother, Dolores Ernst Aubé, who came from German parentage.

The Writing section recaps the works I’ve published, with links where available. Some are directly related to my interest in genealogy, such as the essays in the Franco-American online journal Résonance. Other publications, such as my historical novel about a woman fur trader, By the Last Winter Moon, and the articles for the Toronto newspaper L’Express, reflect my deep engagement with Francophone culture and the French language.
